What About The Trees You Are Buying?

There is real monetary value to healthy trees.  Properties having attractive trees versus those without have higher resale value and more curb appeal.  The US Forest Service has estimated that, on average, quality trees add 5-7% to the value of a house lot.  Under certain circumstances, that increased value may be as high as 20%.  Additionally, trees can significantly lower your summer cooling costs and even heating costs in the winter.

When you buy a lot with trees – whether that is one tree or a wooded area - you are most likely paying a premium price because you appreciate the aesthetic value that the trees will add to your future home.   Before you make that decision, however, it is well worth having those trees evaluated.
